The Gamaliel Foundation is always looking for Organizers and Lead Organizers for our growing network of community organizations. 

Positions
become available from time to time in the following states California, Connecticut, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Wisconsin, and West Virginia.

Organizers must have a deep desire to address local and regional societal issues, organize a congregational base, find leaders, and organize people and money to sustain the organization. Successful organizers are self-motivated, systemic thinkers who are willing to assume responsibility for taking risks. These positions are not a social service or public relations positions.

The Gamaliel Network, through its affiliate organizations, works at a local, regional and state level on multiple issues including:  Education, Jobs/Economic Development, Civil Rights for Immigrants, Affordable Housing, Public Transportation, Drug Treatment instead of Prison, Urban Sprawl. 

In the past years the Network has begun working at the national level. Gamaliel's first national issue campaign  (please use your back button to return to this page) is the Civil Rights of Immigrants.

Skills: Knowledge of political process/agendas; leadership training, strong communication/writing skills; ability to handle diversity, and work with diverse groups; ability to build key relationships with the leadership of congregations, developing alliances while remaining independent, and promoting a social justice agenda.  Ability to speak, train, translate and write Spanish is a significant skill needed by this network at this time. Candidates have experience in organizing congregational/community, union organizations, electoral or GOTV activities and are computer literate.

Some Lead Organizer positions become available. Candidates for the Lead Organizer will have rich experiences in community involvement, organizing, and demonstrate the ability to manage an organization’s financial and organizational development, including the development and supervision of an organizing staff..

 Organizers will be trained by the network, and will be reviewed annually to determine progress toward the fulfillment of their organizations strategic plan. Salaries range from: 35 K to 55 K based on experience, and responsibility.
