La Campaña por los Derechos Civiles de los Inmigrantes
La Campaña por los Derechos Civiles de los Inmigrantes de Gamaliel (CRI por sus siglas en inglés) está dedicada a trabajar hacia la equidad de oportunidad y el trato justo de los inmigrantes, refugiados, y solicitantes de asilo. Actualmente, hacemos un llamado a la Administración de Biden para implementar una Reforma Migratoria Completa e Inclusiva para los 11 millones de inmigrantes indocumentados viviendo en los Estados Unidos.
En una carta reciente dirigida hacia el Presidente Biden, CRI bosqueja esta lista urgente de demandas para una Reforma Migratoria Completa e Inclusiva:
1. Una moratoria sobre todas las deportaciones.
2. Liberar a todos los inmigrantes presos sin historial de violencia y/o quienes están a más alto riesgo de contraer COVID-19.
3. Ampliar el alivio de COVID-19 para incluir a todos los inmigrantes indocumentados.
4. Proporcionar a TODOS los trabajadores indocumentados el estatus de protección y permisos de trabajo.
5. Ampliar y crear protecciones permanentes para la Acción Diferida para los Llegados en la Infancia (DACA).
6. Crear un camino hacia la ciudadanía.
7. Revertir la políticas racistas de inmigración de Trump: Eliminar la regla de carga pública; deshacerse de la práctica de la separación de familias en la frontera; restaurar la reunificación familiar como una prioridad en la evaluación de peticiones familiares; restablecer el Estado de Protección Temporal (TPS); eliminar la política de “Permanecer en México” para los solicitantes de asilo; y restaurar los costos de solicitudes (ciudadanía, LPR) a lo que fueron anterior a Trump.
8. Poner fin al financiamiento de prisiones privadas que encarcelan a inmigrantes indocumentados. Cerrar todos los centros de detención.
9. Poner fin a la financiación militarizada de la aplicación de la ley de inmigración; Responsabilizar a los agentes CBP/ICE por abusos de poder e incluir un informe de rendición de cuentas trimestral; y abolir ICE de la aplicación de la ley local.
10. Abordar las causas de raíz de la migración a través de la inclusión económica y el empoderamiento de las remesas: reemplaza las remesas a bajo costo por bonos de ahorro para el desarrollo; invierta en el empleo sostenible en comunidades con una alta tasa de de envíos migratorios; y enfocarse en el desarrollo para abordar las causas de migración relacionadas al cambio climático.
