Gamaliel Civil Rights for Immigrants Campaign action scheduled for July 14

Join Gamaliel Civil Rights for Immigrants Campaign team on Tuesday, July 14, at 5:30 p.m. CT (6:30 p.m. ET/3:30p.m. PT) for a training and action to impact the proposed rule-making on asylum.  PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS THE CORRECTED TIME FOR THE TRAINING/ACTION.

The Trump Administration has proposed a new rule that would reshape and severely limit the asylum system that is part of current immigration law in this country.  Under the current system, individuals may come to the U.S. seeking protection because they have suffered persecution or feat that they will suffer persecution as a result of race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, and/or political opinion.  In FY2016, 20,500 people were granted asylum.  (To learn more about the rule-making in advance of the CRI training and action, go to:  https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2020/06/15/2020-12575/procedures-for-asylum-and-withholding-of-removal-credible-fear-and-reasonable-fear-review )

To join the conversation and action next Tuesday, you must register at:  https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZUud–uqjkvEtUN76deB3UL28v_AnC7sAMX

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

I look forward to seeing you Tuesday evening!
